Graduate students in the MA in German Studies are primarily supported by teaching assistantships. Determinations about financial aid through an assistantship are made during the admissions process. Admitted students who are not prepared for a teaching assistantship in their first year in the MA program will be considered for an assistantship in the second year. See the page Teaching under the MA in German for details on teaching assistantships. Accepted MA students will be considered for any university-wide fellowships for which they are eligible. The MA program in German is also pleased to be able to award one Max Kade Fellowship annually to an incoming student. While it requires the holder to perform all the duties of a teaching assistantship, the Max Kade Fellowship offers a higher stipend.
