5 Things You Didn't Know About Eva Hicks

I was born south of here in Garrard County (Lancaster) and grew up on the farm.  I spent my childhood playing in the woods and creek and riding horses with my sister and two brothers.  We also had lots of chores! Not too long after high school graduation, I moved to Lexington, Kentucky to work for a CPA firm downtown.  I thought I had hit the “big time”!  I met my husband, Jimmy, 34 years ago at our church.  We married about two and a half months later. We have two grown children -- Kristina and James Matthew --  and three wonderful grandchildren. One of my greatest accomplishments, was earning my Bachelor’s degree in 2005!  I consider myself to be a life-long learner, so I guess the most logical place for me to work, is at a College! I’ve been enjoying my work in the College of Arts & Sciences since July 2010 in the Military Science department (Army ROTC).

What do you do in your spare time? Spare time? What’s that? I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, crocheting, reading and gardening in the Springtime.  I also love to do Fill-It-In puzzles!  Jimmy and I can be found at our church most every Sunday.  The joy of our relationship is our faith.

What is your favorite movie or book?  Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are two of my favorite movies, and I enjoy books of all genres.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?  I have an eight-year-old, orange tabby cat.  I named her Tandi, but I call her “Baby Girl” most of the time.  She is my big, fat baby. My husband had a Doberman Pincher when we married that I loved very much, but I am really a cat person.

What is your favorite food?  I don’t really have a favorite food, but I do have a sweet tooth.  If you want to put a smile on my face, just bring me a bag of Trolli gummi worms!

Have you ever had a brush with fame?   John Michael Montgomery and Eddie Montgomery, of Montgomery Gentry, are my cousins, if that counts.
