Pi Sigma Alpha

The Delta chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national Political Science Undergraduate Honorary Fraternity, was the third chapter instituted by Pi Sigma Alpha and has a long and time-honored tradition at the University of Kentucky going back to the early 1920's. A number of exciting projects have been undertaken by the chapter, most recently, a series of brown bag lunches with political figures, and career planning seminars.

Eligibility:

  • Must be an undergraduate political science major.
  • Must be a junior or a senior.
  • Must maintain at least a B average (3.0) in political science.
  • Must have completed at least 12 credit-hours of PS courses (at least one at the 300-level or above).
  • Must maintain an overall GPA in the top third of his/her class (i.e., an overall GPA of 3.0).

A one-time national initiation fee of $35.00, along with a local fee of $15.00, are required when you hand in your application. The national fee goes to purchase an attractive certificate suitable for framing. The local fee helps fund Pi Sigma Alpha projects and events.

UK Mock Trial Team

The UK Mock Trial Team competes in tournaments across the region, arguing both sides of complex fictional legal cases written each year by the American Mock Trial Association. Our members compete both as Attorneys, who deliver opening and closing arguments, conduct examinations, and raise objections, and Witnesses, who portray characters in the case with engaging testimonies that uphold and defend the team's case theory. This is a great opportunity for those looking for experience in public speaking, legal procedures, argumentative writing, or dramatic performance.

Follow us at our Instagram, @mocktrialuk, for announcements about our orientation and auditions, or email us at ukymocktrial000@gmail.com with questions!
