Prior to joining the University of Kentucky, she was an Assistant Professor in Political Science at the University of Mississippi (2021-2025). She received her Ph.D in Political Science from Emory University in August 2019 and served as a post-doctoral research fellow at Cornell University (2019-2020).
Dr. Huber's research focuses on security sector reform, conflict, gender, peacekeeping, and political violence. One theme of her research focuses on the causes and consequences of women's integration into police and military forces worldwide. This research examines both how gender reform in security institutions impacts security provision and also public opinion of the police and military. She also explores how gender equality impacts support for political violence at the country-level and individual-level. Finally, her work examines the impact of political violence on women's rights.
